Stephen Huneck's beloved black Labrador Sally has spawned a whole series of children's books, as well as woodcut prints, stationary, tote bags, t-shirts, and even rugs, but the genesis of this world was the now-classic first book, "My Dog's Brain". This volume was a project of passion as Huneck was inspired to create it after a life-threatening illness and two-month coma. The first woodcut he created was the first spread of the book, "Life is a Ball," and all the charming ones that follow it portray the dog that brought him so much joy. "My Dog's Brain" illustrates the predicaments, pleasures, and appetites that make up a dog's life. Specifically, Sally lives for love, loyalty, and the pleasure of the moment, whether it's sleeping on the couch, stealing a lick from an ice cream cone, or barking for no good reason. Sally is neither a good dog nor a bad dog, but "My Dog's Brain" humorously sheds some light on her (and every dog's) impulses and way of thinking.

About the Author:
Stephen Huneck is an internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor. He is the owner of Stephen Huneck galleries in Stowe, Vermont and on Dog Mountain in Saint Johnsburg, VT. His hand-carved furniture, sculpture, and woodcut prints are included in various museum collections, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of American Folk Art, New York.
