About the Author:

Hannah Arendt was born in Hanover, Germany and came to the US as a refugee in 1940, becoming a citizen in 1951. A philosopher and political theorist, perhaps her most famous work is 'Eichmann in Jerusalem'. She held several academic posts, most notably at the New School For Social Research, starting in 1967. Although increasingly highly-regarded by academics as one of the major contributors to 20th Century political thought, there has been no previous anthology of Arendt's writings.
