About the Author:

Michael Crick went to Manchester Grammar and then Oxford, where he was President of the Union.
He is now a reporter on Newsnight, and lives in Witney,Oxfordshire.
In the early 1980s he wrote very influential books on Militant and on Arthur Scargill, and his most recent book was a highly acclaimed biography of Jeffrey Archer.
