For any/all design-based courses that emphasize Color Theory.

This text presents color and light in an integrated way, incorporating not only the basics of color harmony and usage, but also providing information on the vast and often hidden ways in which color affects our everyday lives. Based on well-controlled, scientific studies (which dispel the misinformation about color that has become commonplace), it explores the effects of color on our health, spending habits, perceived image, communication, weight, sex lives, and consumer brand preferences. Color is an integral part of design, and designers need a thorough understanding of color's effects on the end user. This text presents information essential to the color selection process.

Additional information about Color: The Secret Influence.
Color affects every aspect of our lives every day: your health, your spending habits, your sex life, your personal and professional image and much more. Yet, most people have only a vague awareness of what color is. Color: The Secret Influence is an integrated book about color/light which presents not only the basics of color harmony and usage, but also provides vital information on the vast and often hidden ways in which color affects us. It is based on more than ten years of color research and factual, scientific data which we have attempted to present in a highly readable way. Our book covers the nature of color; pigment & light; color myths and biases; color and health; color and psychology; color in interior environments; color in architecture and landscape design; color in advertising and marketing; color in fashion and textile design; color in culture and society; color measuring systems; and color into the 21st century. Consmers and designers alike need to be armed with knowledge that can help them make informed choices and use color to their advantage. After reading Color: The Secret Influence you will find there's much more to color than meets the eye.
