Kathleen Dorman Wagner, EdD, MSN, RN

Karen L. Johnson, PhD, RN

Melanie G. Hardin-Pierce, DNP, RN, ACNP-BC

The fifth edition of High-Acuity Nursing celebrates the twentieth anniversary of this popular book. Broken down into learner-focused, self-paced modules, the book takes complex information and presents it in smaller, more accessible chunks that promote easier mastery by readers. As the modules progress in difficulty, this text addresses the multiple-system problems that nurses face when caring for high-acuity patients.

With a focus on concepts and principles that can be applied across practice settings and patient populations, High-Acuity Nursing, Fifth Edition, uses a learner-friendly approach that will help nurses and nursing students master the concepts and confidence to succeed in today’s health care settings.

New to this edition:

  • New Modules.  Ten new modules have been added to the 5th edition, including a module on the older high-acuity patient!
  • Related Drug Therapy ― Major drug therapy pertaining to a particular topic is summarized in a table.
  • Nursing Management ― Nursing Management is summarized in a special new feature.
  • Critical Thinking Check Point exercises ― Presented on the book website on MyNursingKit, a case scenario and higher level critical thinking questions test readers’ understanding of chapter concepts.
