Peter Ricchiuti lives in New Orleans with his wife and two sons. He teaches courses on finance and investments at Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and also hosts the weekly business program “Out to Lunch” on the local NPR affiliate, WWNO. Peter provides surprisingly entertaining addresses to dozens of groups throughout the country each year on economics and the financial markets.
Annette Naake Sisco is a New Orleans-based writer and the features editor for The New Orleans Advocate.
“It takes years of toiling in the shadows before the spotlight discovers you. The same goes for great companies and long-term investments. Sure, there are overnight successes. But many superstar stocks won’t show up on the pages (real or Internet) in the daily financial media. Peter Ricchiuti and his Burkenroad Reports students find them. And they find them far outside of the Wall Street industrial-financial complex. With his trademark mix of wisdom and wit, Ricchiuti trades time-worn financially familiar names for the economically obscure and aspiring. Here’s how he’s done it.”
–Tom Hudson, former Co-Anchor and Managing Editor, Nightly Business Report
“Whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been managing your portfolio for years, you’ll find actionable and helpful advice throughout his work. By profiling actual companies his students follow in his groundbreaking Burkenroads Reports program, he makes investing come to life. Lively, encouraging, and above all, useful, this is an investment book not to be missed.”
–LouAnn Lofton, Motley Fool contributor and author of Warren Buffett Invests Like a Girl: And Why You Should, Too
“Peter’s investment philosophy is part Warren Buffett, part Peter Lynch, a whole lot of passion, with some humor thrown in for good measure. A lot of alumni, including myself, started their Wall Street careers with an educational introduction from Professor Ricchiuti. This book boils his lessons down with a simple approach and plenty of in-the-field stories.”
–Eric Handler, Equity Research Analyst, MKM Partners
“Peter’s book, Stocks Under Rocks, is a wonderful read. His understanding of fundamental investing and gum-shoe research is only exceeded by his ability to communicate with wit to boot. The reader will learn from and enjoy his chronicle covering the Burkenroad journey during the past 20 years.”
–Fred H. Speece, Jr., CFA Speece Thorson Capital Group, Inc. and past chairman of the Board of Governors, Chartered Financial Analysts Institute
Find great stocks in your own backyard: master do-it-yourself research techniques for uncovering today’s best small-cap equity opportunities!
If somebody at a giant tech company drops a pencil, dozens of analysts are all over it. But plenty of small, underfollowed companies earn outstanding returns running the sporting goods stores, pest control companies, pawn stores, and chicken processors of America.
That’s what Tulane University finance professor Peter Ricchiuti and his students have discovered over and over again. Believe it. Their stock research, Burkenroad Reports, helps to power the Hancock Horizon Burkenroad Small Cap Mutual Fund (HYBUX/HHBUX). This fund has outperformed about 99% of all equity mutual funds since its inception in 2001.
With the humor that’s made him such a popular speaker, Ricchiuti shows how to dig up “stocks under rocks,” what makes a hidden bargain, and how to use your existing networks of friends, family and coworkers to find the great stocks Wall Street missed!
Uncover less-followed, misunderstood, unsexy companies that deliver superior returns
Discover stocks with great potential that don’t yet generate the trading volume institutional investors need
Over the long-run, small cap stocks have significantly outperformed their large cap brethren
If a majority of the people were right, a majority of the people would be rich...and they’re not!
