For courses in Study Skills, Student Success, Freshman Seminar or “University 101”.
Offering a strong framework and powerful theme, the fifth edition of Keys to Effective Learning helps students acquire the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond. At the heart of this edition are the Habits of Mind–-eleven behaviors that, according to research by educator Art Costa, promote effective problem-solving in academic as well as workplace and social situations. This edition retains its goal of developing better problem-solvers and more successful learners and offers improved study skills coverage, a newly organized chapter on learning styles and diversity, and new pre- and post- course assessments in the book. More streamlined and targeted, with the Habits of Mind theme more fully integrated, it gives readers a powerful set of tools to increase their preparedness, confidence, and their commitment to learning. This structure is particularly effective for first generation and at-risk students.
