This is an account of the data flow approach which takes both data-driven and demand-driven computations as valid forms of data flow computation. Increased interest in data flow programming techiques has been fuelled recently by rapid advances in computer technology, by the need for faster throughput in parallel processing techniques, and by the search for a programming tool closer to problem-solving methods.
