Kazimierz Moczarski, a dissident journalist and ex-Polish Home Army officer, was incarcerated in Poland in 1949 as an alleged enemy of the state, anti-communist, and accused of being a Nazi. He was confined for 255 days in the same cell with SS Police General Jurgen Stroop, the liquidator of the Warsaw Ghetto. This book is the result of the conversations the German executioner and one of his intended victims shared in that cramped prison setting. The book is composed of 26 chapters each with a separate title and structured like a traditional biography beginning with the description of their first meeting in prison, and then continuing in chronological order from Stroop's birth until his execution, along the way providing us with a portrait of the making of a Nazi mind. Edited by Mariana Fitzpatrick. 282 pages; 8 pages of b&w photos; 6 x 9.25 inches. Seller Inventory # 25717
