Synopsis

This book addresses an underserved area in the field of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology, specifically, people with disabilities. The first section presents an overview of specific disabilities and how different cultural practices impact on their management; the second section focuses on the evaluation of hearing impairment within various disabled groups; and the third section concentrates on overall approaches to audiologic management. "John Oyiborhoro, EdD used to be the director of audiology for the United Cerebral Palsy of New York City, but today in private practice (Boro Audiology Clinic), consultant to the National Institute for People with Disabilities (YAI) and for many years a teacher and author of scientific papers in the field of audiology.

About the Author:

John Oyiborhoro, Ed.D., is the former director of audiology for the United Cerebral Palsy of New York City, Inc., runs his own private clinic, Boro Audiology Clinic, and taught in the department of speech communication studies at Pace University for nearly a decade. He is a consultant for the National Institute for People with Disabilities. Dr. Oyiborhoro is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology as well as of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the International Society of Audiology. He is the author of numerous articles and chapters on audiology.
