Review:

Peptide and Protein Delivery is a concise, accessible reference for entry-level researchers and experienced researchers collaborating on projects outside his/her expertise, covering current and emerging routes for the delivery of peptide and protein therapeutics

From the Back Cover:

Interest in peptide and protein therapeutics has increased dramatically since the clinical

introduction of peptide hormones and monoclonal antibodies. Although new peptidebased

and protein-based drugs and biomarkers are continually being generated by

molecular biology, their delivery remains one of the most important obstacles towards

medical application.

Peptide and Protein Delivery provides insight to the key principles of emerging delivery

systems, how these exploit various biological routes, and their application with regards to

industrial processing and clinical use. The most promising strategies for non-invasive and

targeted delivery are discussed alongside the complementary techniques of PEGylation

and nanoencapsulation, and the requirements for storage and stability. The scope and style

will allow the non-specialist to develop a foundation in these principles, while the

contemporary research concepts presented will complete the understanding of specialists

and urge further study in this exciting and progressing field.

KEY FEATURES

* Discusses the most recent data, ideas and concepts

* Presents case studies and an industrial perspective

* Details information from the molecular level to bioprocessing

* Thought provoking, for the novice to the specialist

* Timely, for today’s biopharmaceuticals market

Christopher F. van der Walle obtained his PhD from King’s College London where he was

subsequently awarded a Maplethorpe Fellowship before moving to the University of Oxford.

He took up a lectureship at the University of Bath and is currently a senior lecturer at the

University of Strathclyde. His research interests include controlled drug delivery,

protein biophysics, formulation and bioprocessing.
