This document sets out the regulations and national minimum standards for independent health care, which the new National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) use to determine whether service providers have in place appropriate safeguards and quality assurance arrangements for their patients. These apply to independent health care establishments for which registration is required under the Registered Homes Act 1984, and to independent health care providers who are regulated by the NCSC. The regulations and standards are published in accordance with section 23 of the Care Standards Act 2000.
