In Volume Two, "Design, installation, validation and verification" is based on the 1994 "Design considerations" and "Validation and verification" volumes. The contents of the "Good practice guide" are incorporated as appropriate. The section on water treatment has been expanded to include guidance on areas including chlorine dioxide, ionization and ultraviolet radiation. The HTM also includes new guidance on the control of legionellae in small healthcare premises, such as health centres, GP surgeries and clinics.
