'I suppose I have to read this damn book, ' Dickinson said ruefully, putting on his trousers. 'No, ' she said with unexpected verve. 'No. You don't read a book like this. It's not a book. It's a raving wolf. It chases you through the dark forests of yourself. You try to run away from it - but you're not fit enough. It tracks you down. Your hope to goodness it's stopped howling at you, but then suddenly it springs. And you're lost. ' 'Or found, ' he said for effect.
