A sourcebook covering all areas of a new baby's life, in terms of the items it needs. There are ideas and designs for a wide range of things, from a moses basket and nappy stacker to a toy box and christening robe. Step-by-step instructions are illustrated, with patterns and templates as required.

If readers can get used to British terms (nappy instead of diaper, for instance), this could prove to be a useful little book for livening up a baby's belongings. The instructions are clear but not rudimentary enough for beginners if the items require sewing. One difficult but interesting project is the travel seat, which restrains a child comfortably in a regular chair and doubles as a bib. A less challenging but equally unique project is a painted toy box and chair. Broken into four chapters, including a section on holiday crafts, Baby Crafts is a good addition to any child-craft collection. Mary Frances Wilkens
