Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry covers for the first time in eleven detailed volumes the exciting inter- and multidisciplinary area of modern supramolecular chemistry. This subject, which has now reached an astonishing diversity and complexity, has developed at a remarkably rapid pace following the initial discoveries of crown ethers and cryptands in the late sixties.
The numerous references, including many recent citations, constitute an unrivalled in-depth source for direct entry to the widespread primary literature on any aspect of this most highly topical area. The many carefully selected illustrations and instructive schematic representations make the chapters easily readable.

1997 Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry is the first all-embracing survey of this field. The editors have succeeded well in organising the very heterogeneous subject of supramolecular chemistry...The numerous figures and clearly set out schemes invite one to browse through the volumes and read whatever catches one's interest, while the comprehensive and up-to-date lists of references give quick and easy access to the original literature...the availability of this first detailed survey of the results from many different fields is of great benefit to supramolecular chemistry. It can therefore be recommended unreservedly as a reference source for all chemistry departments whose research or teaching interests involve aspects of supramolecular chemistry. -- Burkhard Konig, Angew. Chem Int. Ed Engl
July 1997 The great advantage of this new series of volumes is that it is comprehensive and contemporary. The third volume, on cylodextrins, is particularly valuable because it summarises a rapidly expanding field which has not been reviewed in this way for many years. Cyclodextrin inclusion complexes were among the earliest supramolecular systems to be investigated and they are now among the first systems to find technological applications. Supramolecular technology is well reviewed in volume 10, making this topic more accessible.
This set of volumes is remarkably up-to-date, with many references up to 1995. It is impressive that the authors and editors have managed to assemble such a comprehensive and wide ranging set of reviews so quickly....
This set of volumes is an excellent resource which ought to be made available in all chemistry libraries. It will be valuable both to veterans in the field and to new students starting research in this exciting area. It should inspire future generations of chemists to design and build structures which are now unimaginable. -- Harry L Anderson Dyson Perrins Laboratory, University of Oxford,, Chemistry & Industry
