This edition starts with a series of progressive lessons in Illustrator with the aim of teaching the reader how to draw, edit shapes, and use type, colours and layers. Projects at the end of each section integrate the materials learned and further explain how the procedures are used within the context of the program. The last one-third of the book covers more technical issues. It also contains a series of hands-on projects which use a combination of the skills learned and includes a troubleshooting guide. Both Mac and Windows versions are covered. The focus in on learning how to use Illustrator: its drawing tools and filters, creating simple and complex shapes, the import/export features and how to maximize the product for tasks at hand. There are hands-on projects include: creating a simple CD package cover using art created in Illustrator; creating a simple logo and saving it for export to page layout programs, saving it for use on a Web site, adding on to the original design, and creating a Web site banner and business card identity with the logo; creating a restaurant menu that incorporates a complex logo, type (with tabs) and several photographs, include a photograph inside of type; creating a pie chart with patterned slices and soft-drop shadow and adding type for labels. What's so great about Fundamental Illustrator 7?
Greetings. If you are in search of a good reference manual and illustration tutor, you've come to the right place. Where other illustration program books often do well at providing technical information and/or program feature reference they often lack a degree of reader instruction and learning incentive. And, where some how-to illustration books often excel in providing drawing techniques they often fall short when it comes to complete program reference. This is where Fundamental Illustrator 7 has the advantage.
Not only does Fundamental Illustrator 7 provide complete program operational reference and comprehensive feature use, it also fully explores drawing techniques specifically geared toward Adobe Illustrator 7. Plus, through the inclusion of chapter drawing tutorials, this book provides a wealth of creative stimulation and a great collection of illustration ideas to draw on.
While bridging the reference-and-technique gap found in other books, Fundamental Illustrator 7 also delivers in these areas:
- Explains program operation and feature use without devoid of technical jargon
- Covers and addresses both Macintosh and Windows platforms
- Loaded with tips, tricks, and Illustrator 7 shortcuts
- Teaches illustration techniques
- Covers comprehensive Adobe Illustrator 7 features
- Covers print and World Wide Web issues
If you decide to purchase this book, rest assured it will bring you a wealth of information resulting from the combined illustration and desktop experience not only from myself, but from all who participated in its writing and production.
