"Clinical Sports Medicine" is a complete practical guide to sports medicine, covering all aspects of diagnosis and management of sports-related injuries. It adopts an easy-to-use, symptom-oriented approach and uses multidisciplinary methods of treatment that are applicable to a variety of disciplines - physiotherapists, masseurs, podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors and general practitioners, as well as sports medicine practitioners. It is also important reading for sports trainers and coaches and students of sports-related subjects. In addition to diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries, the book examines: fundamental principles of sports medicine; enhancement of sports performance; and management of medical problems. "Revised Second Edition, Clinical Sports Medicine" is established as a leading text on sports medicine, selling more than 35 000 copies worldwide. The revised second edition includes 75 new line drawings to better illustrate functional anatomy of common clinical conditions and updated photographs and references. The revised chapter on concussion (Chapter 10) includes the latest conclusions from the International Symposium on Concussion in Sport and the new guidelines for assessment and return to sport.

"Best Sports Medicine Book I've Ever Used! August 22, 2001; Reviewer: A reader from Vancouver, B.C. Canada; The Second edition of Clinical Sports Medicine is the best reference book I have come across as an athletic therapist and professional fitness and lifestyle consultant. I find it very easy to navigate with great illustrations and information. The references are all very recent and evidence-based so you feel confident in following the authors' recommendations. It is particularly good value at 67 US dollars - most hardcover books of this size are about twice that price. The corresponding website has updated information, including relevant published papers, which I find quite helpful also. These authors have really done a fabulous job of classifying sports medicine information in a logical and easy-to-use format. I highly recommend it to anyone in the sports, fitness, and/or health fields! 2nd edition already a big hit, November 27, 2000; Reviewer: Karim Khan from Vancouver, BC Canada; Author review; The 2nd edition (2001) is now readily available worldwide. It contains 7 new chapters and every chapter has been fully updated. It contains practical guidelines for shoulder pain management (with Ben Kibler), new management of anterior knee pain (with Jenny McConnell) and guidelines as to how to teach pelvic stability for patients in treatment of back pain. It includes a complete update of management of tendon injuries incorporating recent advances in treatment (with Jill Cook, Hakan Alfredson, etc). Medical chapters include updates on drugs in sport, managing heat illness and ethics in sport. Large, practical chapters describe sports medicine care for the female athlete, the pediatric athlete, the disabled athlete and seniors. This 918 page hardcover 2nd edition, with over 900 illustrations, is extremely good value. We would argue the best value of any clinical sports medicine text, and this is reflected by this edition selling almost 10,000 copies already. The New Zealand Journal of Sports Medicine recently reviewed this edition and said 'The world's best sports medicine book just got better'....Check it out for yourself! Excellent practical book for clinicians, June 28, 2000; Reviewer: A reader from seatle, USA; This very practical book that uses symptom-oriented chapters to provide very helpful guidance to anyone who sees sports medicine patients. It is useful for physical therapists (like me) but my colleagues who are doctors and masseurs also use it. I thoroughly recommend it and find its illustrations of physical examination particularly useful. From the Publisher:

"Practical sports medicine book for physiotherapists, sports physicians This definitive sports medicine text book of 920 superbly-illustrated pages is the 'gold-standard' of sports medicine books. Its main emphasis is conservative care of musculoskeletal conditions and it is particularly up to date in management of overuse tendon conditions, the latest on shoulder rehabilitation, management of troublesome back problems and the athletic groin. It also covers issues such as enhancing sports performance with nutrition and psychology, traveling with a team and ethical issues in sport. The first edition was a great success but this second edition is a far superior book. And it is exceptional value for money. I strongly recommend those working with athletes and those treating musculoskeletal conditions to check this Australian-Canadian book out fully. It's a gem" - A physical therapist at Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
