Dramatically expanded Web Resources including Web Icons which appear throughout each chapter, next to appropriate content, signaling to the student that connecting links and additional information is available on the 8th edition web site. Through The Eyes of Psychologists feature quotes and insights from today's top developmental researchers in the field such as Eliot Aronson and James Jones. These passages bring researchers and their subjects to life for students.
Unique Cross-linkages are featured within the text of every chapter to refer students back to the primary discussion of key concepts to increase comprehension. This serves as a built-in review for students.
Explorations in Adolescence boxes appear one or more times in each chapter and provide applications like "Why Youth Kill" (Ch. 6) that focus on providing a better understanding of and a more caring world for adolescents.
Important Content changes include the reduction of chapters from 16 to 14, with the reduction of two cognitive chapters to one and the integration of the adolescent health coverage into chapter 3.
Text Design has been completely replaced with an open, colorful one-column design to appeal to students.
Cognitive Maps, expanded in this edition appear at the beginning, end and within each chapter to help visual learners organize and visualize major concepts as they progress.

Expert consultants reviewed chapters, adding their recommendations and insights to provide the most current information available about adolescent development. The text's expert reviewer panel is listed in the preface of the text.
Adolescence Resources provides students with brief end of chapter descriptions of recommended books for additional acquiring knowledge and insight about practical applications for helping adolescents reach their full potential.
