Review:
"There is not a wasted word in this book. Its style is enticing and elegant. Matching in elegance are the exquisite line drawings (so much better than photos) that illustrate its pages. The references are carefully selected and annotated, as are the suggested readings. The citation of Web-based materials -- both for patient education and for professionals -- is the best I have ever seen. The appendixes that give the assessment instruments themselves also add to the presentation....Each edition of this book adds something new. The pagination, size, and paper -- even the cover -- are improved. The printing of tables and boxes with a slightly darker background makes them easy to spot without being jarring. Kudos for the very careful editing of this book, which raises the level of medical writing here to that of the best British writers in days of yore. This is one of the best textbooks of geriatric medicine in terms of its clarity, completeness, and compactness. It give a complete, coherent, overarching view of geriatric medicine that still can be swallowed whole in an elective geriatric medicine rotation. Every medical library should possess this small marvel. 4 Stars!"--Doody's Review Service (Doody's 2003-11-21)
