A new feature is the use of Microsoft Excel for solution of both steady state and transient heat transfer problems. Excel is given a rather full discussioon in a new Appendix D, which includes treatment of heat source and radiation boundary conditions. A special template has been added that automatically writes nodal equations in accorance with geometric model and boundary conditions set up by user.
An Excel template has been added that analyzes the heating and cooling of lumped capacity with both radiation and variable convection boundary conditions. Also included are new numerical computer examples, including heat source effect.
The solutions manual is now typeset and will present solutions to computer numerical problems in an Excel format.
All Excel templates will be available on the custom book website, so that information need not be re-keyed. In addition, special Excel graphical templates and an MS Word symbol keyboard template will be available on the website to facilitate direct keyboarding of symbols and the immediate setup of 3D charts.
