From the Back Cover:

"When you want the facts, we hit the tracks!" Do the Kinetic City Scrolls prove that the town was settled by Vikings 1000 years ago--or are they a fake? Follow in the tracks of Kinetic City Super Crew members PJ, Curtis, Max, and Keisha as they use high-tech super-sleuthing and good, old-fashioned brain power to sort fact from fiction in this fast-paced mystery!

From School Library Journal:

Grade 4-6?A series based on a popular radio show. The Kinetic City Super Crew kids return. As in Forest Slump (McGraw, 1997), the book reflects an emphasis on plot rather than on character development. Except for the youngsters' quirky traits?one has a prize collection of Ukrainian grocery coupons, another collects dryer lint?it would be hard to differentiate one from another. The mystery involves the Kinetic City Scrolls, which are the basis for an exciting and lucrative discovery: the town was settled by Vikings 1000 years ago. The crew members are lead to believe that the scrolls are fake, and their efforts to learn the truth involve radiocarbon dating, a do-it-yourself lie detector, and an investigation that also becomes a homework assignment. Along the way they learn a lesson or two, including the difference between setting out to prove something and trying to find the truth. This is a sophisticated concept that older readers might grapple with, but the format and the cover suggest a book for younger readers who won't readily grasp that point. This story lacks memorable characters and an engaging plot. Maybe sound effects would have helped.?Edith Ching, Parrott Library, St. Albans School, Mt. St. Alban, Washington, DC
