Book Description Harper & Row 1975 Paperback, 1975. Book Condition: Good. This book is an extended summary of the main findings of three large reports dealing with the investigation of the relationship between the police and the public in London. The reports studied this relationship from the points of view of the adult population, the youth population and the police themselves and involved over a year's research and 2700 intensive interviews. The enquiry was requested by the Metropolitan Police Force and was conducted under the completely independent direction of the author. The pupose of the investigation was to provide the police with empirically based evidence for the guidance of policy and of police training in the general area of relations between themselves and the public. A list of recommendations was subsequently presented to the police based on the findings of the investigation and is included in the final section of this book. The first intensive study of the Metropolitan Police Force since the 1962 Royal Commission, this analysis and its findings will be of vital interest to all those concered with the role of the police in present day society. 105 pages.
