Maria Loi, gourmet chef, restaurateur, and public personality, is widely regarded as "the Martha Stewart of Greece." Maria has cooked at the White House for President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and 250 guests. She has written ten cookbooks in Greece, including the official cookbook for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and has her own public television cooking series, Cooking at Loi. Born in the tiny village of Thermo, where she learned the flavors, food traditions, and recipes of Greece. Her restaurant, Kouzina Maria Loi, is in idyllic seaside Nafpaktos. Maria is the ambassador of Greek food and Greek olive oil for the Chef's Club of Greece and is well known for her Loi Pasta and Loi Greek Yogurt. She is a founder of Elpida ("hope"), a foundation to support children with cancer. Maria lives in New York City but stays close to her Greek roots and visits her family frequently.
Sarah Toland is a veteran health-journalist and former Olympic-level athlete. Before collaborating with Maria on The Greek Diet, Sarah was the senior health editor of Men's Journal, where she helped write and shape investigative features on nutrition, exercise, and weight loss. She has appeared regularly as a weight-loss expert for the Fox News Channel and made on-air appearances on ABC and CBS.Prior to her role at Men's Journal, she was the editor-in-chief of Inside Triathlon, an internationally syndicated health and fitness magazine. Sarah has worked as a health and fitness reporter for the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Delicious Living, and Alternative Medicine, among other national publications.
