The beloved author of the modern classic book All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten now tackles life's most mysterious, joyous and most confusing topic -- love. An irresistible collection of real-life love stories, mixed with Robert Fulghum's own quirky insights and unmistakable homespun observations, True Love tells the many unpredictable tales of love. Here it is: the intriguing story of the woman who marries her mother's high school flame; a man who learns that "old love" and new pajamas are a dangerous mix; a man who miraculously reunites with his first love (after 20 years) on an LA freeway; the touching tale of a husband's love for his wife after her disabling stroke; a 14-year-old's philosophy of looking for love on the boardwalk; the brief moment of connection of a smile shared at a stoplight; and so many more.

Robert Fulghum has made his living as a ditchdigger, cowboy, IBM salesman, folksinger, parish minister, bartender, newspaper columnist, and philosopher. His previous books, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, It Was on Fire When I Lay Down on it, Maybe (Maybe Not), Uh-Oh, From Beginning to End, and True Love, have sold more than fifteen million copies in twentyseven languages in ninety-three countries. He has four children and seven grandchildren. He lives with his wife, a family physician, on a houseboat in Seattle, Washington. From Booklist:
Just in time for Valentine's Day comes the perennially best-selling Fulghum's latest on love. In Uh-Oh (1991), he shared love stories from his own life. Now, per his request, readers have sent him their own brushes with love, and to gather more fodder, he sat in Seattle coffee shops with a sign that said, "Tell me a short love story, and I will buy you coffee and make you famous." Sounds like a pretty easy way to "write" a book, but Fulghum does provide commentary here and there and some of his own material, including a touching little tale about a widow in her seventies who re-meets her true love at her high-school reunion and then wanders around Victoria's Secret trying to figure out how to translate her feelings into appropriate lingerie. Some of the anecdotes are so sweet they'll make your teeth ache faster than Valentine chocolates. Librarians may want to warn readers not to gobble this down in one sitting. Ilene Cooper
