The second edition of this book is a complete re-write and bears little resemblence to the first, The new AEB syllabus was being written at the same time as this book. It was intended to cover enough of the most popular parts of the AEB A level syllabus to provide the average student with an understanding of the material such that they could gain a reasonable pass in the exam. It contains useful depth and detail in some areas that other books don't, e.g. in studies in obedience and animal language. At all times it is readable and engaging. Many newly qualified teachers tell me that it was the book they started with to develop their knowledge of the syllabus areas. It has proved very successfull and continues to sell well.
