About the Author
Andrew Sayer is a Professor in the department of Sociology at the University of Lancaster. His research interests include social theory and political economy, and the philosophy of social research. Recent publications include The New Social Economy: Reworking the Division of Labor (Blackwell, 1992), Realism and Social Science (Sage, 2000), and The Moral Significance of Class (Cambridge University Press, 2005).
Synopsis
This second edition of "Methods in Social Science" directly reflects new developments in the areas of philosophy and methods. The introduction has been rewritten and substantially enlarged, clarifying many of the arguments that appear in the text; there is a short discussion of the importance of narrative form, particularly useful for students concerned with the problems of writing, composition and presentation of their own material.
