Thor Heyerdahl gives an account of the historical and archaeological discoveries on the Maldive Islands. The picture of the Maldive Islands that he builds up is of islands which, far from being remote and insignificant, formed a central point for early-eastern, pre-European civilization as they traded, emigrated, rose and declined. Thor Heyerdahl is the author of several books including "The Kon-Tiki Expedition", "The Ra Expedition" and "Tigris".
