"Gateway to Wisdom" is essentially a manual of contemplative yogas and healing practices, adapted from Chinese and Tibetan teachings, for the use of Western mediators who have not got access to qualified masters. The emphasis is not on theory but on things to do, such as yogic breathing, various kinds of meditation, "I Ching" divination, healing and a number of supportive practices, for example writing Taoist verse and discovering beauty in unpromising surroundings. The aims include increasing an individual's potential for a joyous carefree life, attaining states of expanded consciousness, opening the mind to the influence of intuitive wisdom and achieving a greater degree of sympathy and compassion for the natural environment and all living beings.
