9780008124823: Angel of Death (Sean Dillon Series)

They call themselves "January 30," after the date of a British massacre in Belfast. They are allied with no one, killing American diplomats and KGB agents, Arabs and Israelis, IRA gunmen and Loyalist soldiers. But they are definitely the enemies of peace--and they are plotting an assassination that will shatter the uneasy truce that reigns in Ireland.

Former IRA enforcer Sean Dillon must hunt down January 30 before they kill again. Before they spark another war. Before Dillon himself falls prey to the ultimate assassin--the Angel of Death...

About the Author:

Since The Eagle Has Landed—one of the biggest-selling thrillers of all time—every novel Jack Higgins has written has become an international bestseller. He has had simultaneous number-one bestsellers in hardcover and paperback, and many of his books have been made into successful movies, including The Eagle Has Landed, To Catch a King, On Dangerous Ground, Eye of the Storm, and Thunder Point. He has degrees in sociology, social psychology, and economics from the University of London, and a doctorate in media from Leeds Metropolitan University. A fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and an expert scuba diver and marksman, Higgins lives in Jersey on the Channel Islands.

From AudioFile:

Jack Higgins and Patrick MacNee are the perfect combination of writer and narrator. Higgins's latest espionage novel centers around a terrorist group calling itself "January 30th," which emerges with several strange goals, including stopping peace talks in Ireland. Sean Dillon, a former IRA member, now working for British intelligence, must stop the terrorist attacks. Patrick MacNee captures the ambiguity of the political intrigue with careful pauses and dramatic tension. His superb Irish accents increase the enjoyment of this presentation. I.Z.
