Queen Victoria was Empress of half the world.
She owned palaces and huge armies.
Mighty sultans gave her precious jewels.
But she didn’t have any underpants...
Meet Lizzy, whose family are in the clothing industry. Very few people probably know that Queen Victoria made the wearing of underpants popular. At the beginning of her reign very few women wore them. But Queen Victoria made tartans, perambulators and chloroform fashionable. By the time she died just about every woman in Britain wore underpants like hers!
Explore the truly hilarious story of Her Majesty’s underwear as told by award-winning duo Jackie French and Bruse Whatley.

“Great fun... nicely illustrated and with a great story for kids. They'll love the fact that it's about a woman who creates knickers for Queen Victoria, but they (and you) may also find it genuinely interesting that the monarch made wearing underpants popular. For this and more (including a great lift the flap on the final page), check out the book.” The Times Online

Praise for The Diary of a Wombat:
“French and Whatley have conjured an affectionate, believable wombat self-portrait.” New York Times Book Review
“Bruce Whatley’s illustrations bring the story to life in a way that is both endearing and amusing. It’s easy to see why this book has won several awards in Jackie French’s native Australia. It deserves to be a huge hit here too, as it feels really fresh and original.” Publishing News
