About the Author:

Fanny Blake was a publisher for many years, editing both fiction and non-fiction before becoming a freelance journalist and writer. She has written various non-fiction titles, acted as ghost writer for a number of celebrities, and is also Books Editor of Woman & Home magazine. Women of a Dangerous Age is the follow up to her first novel What Women Want.

From Booklist:

After years of commitment to either marriage or singlehood, two women suddenly face life-changing junctures in Blake’s pleasantly diverting read. Lou has finally faced the fact that her husband’s love has waned precipitously over the years. On a solo trip to India to celebrate the end of her marriage and her new independence, Lou meets fellow traveler Ali, a “serial mistress,” who thought she abhorred commitment until her latest lover asked her to get serious with him. But upon returning home to England, Ali discovers her lover has not been as truthful or faithful as she thought, which throws her worldview into an even more disorienting spin. Lou and Ali become friends while they each journey their own path through love and loss, ultimately sharing deep secrets and dreams, which cements the sisterhood bond. That is, until a shocking secret unknown to either of them comes to light, and they must once again rearrange their perspectives. Lou’s self-effacing ways can be hard to root for, while Ali’s better-developed character may garner more cheerleading. Suggest this to fans of Jojo Moyes. --Julie Trevelyan
