The third pulse-pounding thrill-ride featuring maverick agent Steve Vail, from New York Times bestselling author and former FBI agent Noah Boyd

An audacious theft of Mafia cash in a Vegas betting scam by a woman who disappears without a trace. Don Valentino Androtti is the type to hold grudges. And he makes Steve Vail an offer he can't refuse...

Maeve Ryan, an old flame of Vail's, is the woman in question. She tricked the Mafia outfit for over a million dollars, and now they want three million in compensation for the insult. She backed 7 winners in 7 fights. The mystery of how she did it is what the Mob are after.

If Vail finds her and brings her to the Don, they will both be released alive. If the Mob gets to Maeve first, they'll murder her and then kill Vail, too. Vail is up to the job, but has a worrying hunch that she is in Chicago and can be found at any time. Vail, as always, is the man with the plan. He can trick the FBI into giving him full disposal of their resources to find her. But Kate Bannon is suspicious that Vail is too eager to help out. And does Vail still have feelings for Maeve?

The stakes, in true high-rolling fashion, are sky high. And Vail's gamble could lose him everything he has...

Review:

‘Noah Boyd brings his FBI experience to this dazzling thriller. The pace is frenetic, the action is unique, and the drama intense. We have a new American hero in Steve Vail’ Patricia Cornwell

‘The Bricklayer has terrific pace, surprises galore, and snappy dialogue in the appropriate places. Even better, it has a real hero. Move over Jack Reacher, here comes The Bricklayer’ James Patterson

‘Non-stop action and non-stop authenticity make this a real winner’ Lee Child‘The Bricklayer is lots of fun, plenty smart, and great escapist reading. And Steve Vail is a magical agent. If I had my way, I’d read stuff like this every minute I’m not on deadline.’ Seymour Hersh
