'Electrifying, a literary whodunit of the first order...You won't be able to look away. People will be talking about this book.' Justin Cronin, author of THE PASSAGE

My father smelled like cigarettes and cardamom. When I was small, and wanted comfort, he would put down the wooden spoon when he was cooking, or the pen when he was writing. Always, he would halt what he was doing and crouch down. I pressed my cheek to his warm chest. In his arms, I was safe.

The savage murder of eight-year-old Lauren’s mother, and the sentencing of her father Izaan to life imprisonment for the murder, tears her world apart. As an adult, she can’t understand why she has panic attacks, is unable to accept her boyfriend’s marriage proposal, or listen to her brother Alex attempt to convince her of their father’s innocence and wrongful imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Sylvia Hall is running away from her loser boyfriend, determined to keep the baby he doesn’t want. She knows her best friend since childhood, Victoria, will help her – but Victoria has her own problems that threaten to consume her.

All three women are connected by tragedy and betrayal: ‘Close Your Eyes’ is a heart-breaking page-turner about what happens when a family is destroyed.

Review:

'Amanda Ward's CLOSE YOUR EYES is electrifying, a literary whodunit of the first order – breathless and disturbing and hopeful and true. You won't be able to look away. People will be talking about this book.' Justin Cronin, author of THE PASSAGE

'CLOSE YOUR EYES is a wonder. Amanda Eyre Ward has given us finely spun mystery with complex, absorbing characters and lovely prose. A true literary page-turner in the best sense of the word.' Katie Crouch, author of Girls in Trucks and Men and Dogs

‘I absolutely loved thsi beautiful, haunting story of a woman who learns to come to terms with a dark, deep family secret. This is the kind of book that hooks you right in, brings tears to your eyes, and ends on a note of shining hope. Lauren Mahdian will feel like your sister, your best friend.’ Tatiana de Rosnay, author of Sarah's Key and A Secret Kept

'Amanda Eyre Ward goes straight to the heart of her complex, nuanced characters, and with empathy and insight she lays them bare. As a reader, you're powerless against the elegance of her prose and the emotional honesty of her story. You'll close the cover on this book, but you won't forget it.' Lisa Unger, New York Times bestselling author of 'Fragile'

'Amanda Eyre Ward has given us a book that is both beautifully wrought and intensely gripping. I was transfixed by this story of a woman haunted by brutal loss but making her brave, difficult way toward truth.' Marisa de los Santos, New York Times bestselling author of 'Love Walked In'
