Ian Whybrow was once a teacher of English, and Head of Sixth Form at the John Lyon School in Harrow. Now a full-time author, he specialises in writing humour and this is reflected in his Little Wolf titles as well as his picture books for Collins [Where's Tim's Ted?] and other publishers. His wife, Anne, is also a teacher and one of his daughters is Lucy Whybrow, the actress. From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 3–Whybrow has produced another winner in this absolutely delightful addition to the series. Mom and Dad take Little Wolf and Smellybreff into town, instructing them that they need to be on their worst behavior. The adults and Smellybreff have no trouble being bad, but Little still struggles with the finer points of being rude and ignorant. His most sincere attempts, like building a mud pie in the middle of the road, sticking out his tongue, and growling at a waitress, pale in comparison to his sibling's large burps, destructive actions, and ability to barf on demand. Children will roar with laughter at the Wolf family's antics and will revel in the fact that the parents encourage naughtiness. The clever narrative is lively and irreverent and will capture the interest of both adults and children alike. Ross's colorful line drawings are hysterically appealing, adding to the humor of the text.–Robyn Walker, Elgin Court Public School, St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada
