Despite his Mum's insistence, Sam doesn't want to be friends with Davey. In fact, he thinks Davey’s a first class moron. Then one day Davey saves Sam’s life and a bond is formed between them. Written in verse, this is the funny and thought-provoking story of an extraordinary friendship that changes two boys’ lives forever.
The novel is written as a first-person narrative, and is ideal for the study of poetic form, from free verse to haikus and limericks. However, it is also a poignant story about bullying, and offers a unique perspective on the friendship between two boys and their interaction both in and outside of the classroom, providing opportunities for discussion and cross-curricular work in PSHE and Citizenship.

About the Author
Malorie Blackman is one of the UK's leading children's authors, and offers a unique insight into multicultural Britain. She is a prolific writer, having produced over 50 books for children since 1990. One of these, ‘Pig-Heart Boy’, was nominated for the prestigious Carnegie Medal and adapted into a BAFTA award-winning television series.
