This is the ultimate guide for every music lover who has ever wondered who has the best selling single ever, or who has been Nos 1 more times than anyone else, or where Tears for Fears (or even 10cc) got there name, or who is left from T. Rex. Covering every single that has ever charted in the UK, with details on when released, top position, weeks in chart, awards, silver, gold or platimnum, track title, label and catalogue number, this book also uniquely has short histories of EVERY band that has ever appeared in the charts, plus facts on where, when, why or by whom the track was written, or recorded or whatever is interesting about it. Organised A-Z by artist, with a full index of song titles, plus a FREE CD containing an electronic version of the book, this is a must for everyone who has ever watched Top of the PopsFrom the Author:
As the review states, I have also been working on a similar Albums version of the book. Complete UK Hit Albums will contain an additional six months of chart data, which enables me to include the BRIT and Grammy Awards from earlier this year, together with updated biographies (since the singles book was published we've lost Johnny Bristol, Ray Charles etc), together with updated certified sales awards. A couple of reviewers have also pointed out that there are no editorial features or lists. This is deliberate - the book(s) are full of trivia and information, so I hope most of the things people want to know are covered. Besides, I'd prefer to do lists along the lines of which hitmakers have also appeared in pornographic films, done time in jail or been declared bankrupt!! Great editorial features I'm sure, but not what you'd want in a music reference book!!
