From the Back Cover:

Colin and Prill are staying in Laggs Castle – 'Castle Dracula, morelike. It's really creepy.' Says their cousin Oliver. As they begin to explore the old house and the dark woods surrounding it, they find themselves becoming the victims of some evil force – something threatening, something lurking in the dark corners and winding staircases of the ancient building. What mysterious secret is the old house hiding? Could it possibly be some kind of vampire? Only something really terrible could make a loaf of bread taste of bones and blood...

About the Author:

Ann Pilling was brought up in Warrington, Cheshire, and many of her books are set in the industrial North West. After reading English at London University, she taught in Buckinghamshire (the setting for THE EMPTY FRAME) then spent some time in America before returning to England and settling eventually in Oxford. She is married with two sons. Whenever possible, Ann retreats to the Yorkshire Dales which she calls ‘the country of my heart’. She loves animals.

Book Description Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Reprint. Some very slight edgewear to sides of spine, otherwise in an excellent, clean, tight condition. "Laggs castle, they call it," said Oliver. "Castle Dracula, more like. It's really creepy." The ancient mansion does hide a secret. But it's nothing so straightforward as a vampire. It has the power to make a loaf of bread taste of bones and blood. It can come as a hare or a toad. As Colin, Prill and Oliver explore the rambling old house and the dark woods surrounding it, they find themselves becoming the victims of some evil force, something full of threat. Book.
