The tables are turned on the holidaying owners of the house when the resident cats have an all-night disco, a singing and an all-in wrestling competition, not to speak of the biggest midnight feast the street has ever seen. By the author of "Lucy and the Big Bad Wolf" and "Vlad the Drac".

PreSchool-Grade 1-A whimsical look at a compelling theme for young children-what cats do when their people are away. Magnus and Lulu, two ginger tabbies, revel in their owners' weekend absence. They invite all their feline friends over for nocturnal dance parties, wrestling competitions, video sessions, and other gluttonous fun. Of course, when the family returns from their vacation, they find Magnus and Lulu all curled up in their basket, innocently asleep. Unfortunately, Birch's cartoony art is uninspired and displays some inconsistencies in the depictions of the animals. Overall, though, this book offers an amusing spin on what happens "when the cat's away."-Elizabeth Hanson, Chicago Public Library
