During the long hot summer Poppy Eyebright is busy in her dairy while downstream Dusty Dogwood is busy in his mill. Dusty and Poppy spend more and more time together by the banks of the cooling stream and by midsummer the mice of Brambly Hedge are preparing for a very special day ! The mice of Brambly Hedge have many adventures but they always have time for fun too. All through the year, they mark the seasons with feasts and festivities and, whether it be a little mouse's birthday, an eagerly awaited wedding or the first day of spring, the mice never miss an opportunity to meet and celebrate.

“…the most researched-crammed fantasy ever set before small children…” Sunday Times MagazineAbout the Author:
Jill Barklem was born in Epping and led a quiet childhood enjoying being close to nature. On leaving school, she studied illustration at St Martin’s in London. The inspiration for Brambly Hedge appeared during Jill’s daily train journey between Epping and London: shutting herself off from the outside world, she became obsessed with the way of life of a band of hedgerow mice, later to be developed as the world of Brambly Hedge. Jill still lives in Epping, Essex.
