Carlo Curley is probably the most famous living organist. American by birth, he has made Britain his home, and keeps his awesome touring organ at St Paul’s Hammersmith, where he also lives in the vicarage.
Described as the ‘Pavarotti of the Organ’, not least for his 6’4", 20 stone physique, Carlo was an infant prodigy. By 18 he had already been appointed organist and choirmaster at Girard College, Philadelphia.
Since the seventies his freelance career has taken him all over the world, to play most of the finest instruments. His UK schedule alone accommodates about fifty concerts a year.
His irrepressible humour permeates the entire book which is packed full with anecdotes.
