Book Description University Books, New Hyde Park, NY, 1961. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Sir Thomas Malory, a knight, a landowner and a member of Parliament, probably wrote this literary classic while he was held in various prisons between the 1450s and 1470s for crimes that may or may not have occurred, that may or may not have been due to political accusations from his enemies. Originally published by Caxton in 1485, Le Morte Darthur (original spelling) is a compilation and translation of French and English stories and folk songs about Arthur and his knights. This University Books edition is the First Printing, First Editon Thus, binding two volumes into a single book of 530 pages with four pages of ads for the Library of Mystic Arts. Includes an introduction by John C. Wilson, a glossary and an index. Boards and text are clean and unmarked; the binding is tight and square. A very decent reading/study copy. [Sorry, due to the book's size and weight, we cannot accept expedited orders or orders from outside the U.S.]. Bookseller Inventory # 005241
