Synopsis
It is essential that all members of the construction team, whether in building or civil engineering, have an understanding of, and accurate information on costs, in order to be able to operate on a sound and efficient commercial basis. This book examines a wide range of aspects of the control of cost, from the financial feasibility studies for the initial capital investment, through the design, to cost control of the work in site, and considers all these aspects from the point of view of both the owner and contractor. The book should be of interest to all professionals who either use or are engaged in the contracting business. This includes not only those with particular responsibility for costs, but clients with building programmes. About the Author
Professor Roy Pilcher was formerly A. J. Clark Chair Professor and Director, Construction Engineering and Management Program, in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Maryland, USA, 1988-91. He is Emeritus Professor of Building Engineering, UMIST.
