Hurricane Kieron and Rusharound Ria were always in a hurry. They never walked anywhere. They always ran.
They went zzzzooooommm, zigga zigga, yow, yow, yow, wheeeeeeee all day long. And they didn’t stop until it was time to go to bed.
But then, one day, Hurricane Kieron fell over and hurt his knee. He tried to get back up and run but he couldn’t. So Hurricane Kieron had to find something to do that didn’t involve rushing around all the time. He took a paintbrush and some paints and made hurricanes on paper instead. And when Rusharound Ria saw how much fun he was having, she decided that maybe she should try sitting still for a while too…

Hurricane Kieron and his sister, Rush Around Ria, are always in a mad rush in this bright, bold story from Trish Cooke, whose well-loved book So Much won the 0-5 category of the 1994 Smarties Book prize and the Kurt Maschler Award.
Kieron and Ria are bubbly, likeable personalities whose joyful energy seems to invariably result in noisy mayhem.
"Trouble was they only stopped when it was time for bed. But, come the morning, they would start all over again."
The language and vibrant illustrations create a palpable sense of their frantic activity and the reader almost begins to feel exhausted for them! This book is very easy to read out loud and has loads of noises that children will really enjoy making--Kieron and Ria don't move in quiet ways, they move in great big "zzzzooooommm's" and dizzy "whooooooiwheee's"!
The loveable two-some could drive any mum to desperate pleas for them to sit still for five minutes, but hopefully this colourful book will persuade others to follow their example and discover the virtues of quieter creativity.
Age 2-3 --Rachel EdissReview:
A noisy book that celebrated the fun of charging around, while gently encouraging quiet, creative play. Full of the sort of detail children love; bright, exuberant pictures, short sentences, lots of repetition and whooping noises to imitate.
This stylised, multi-cultural picture book is fille with boundless energy and a sense of fun. The bold, colourful, alternative style of artwork will make this book leap off the shelf, with illustrations that fizzle with energy and perfectly mirror the lively story. Perfect for children aged two to five.
