"This map is a powerful, and surprisingly honest, representation of the European campaign of the 4th Armored Division during WWII. From debarkation on Utah Beach in July of 1944, the unit rolled through France and Germany, culminating in the heroic relief of the besieged American forces at the city of Bastogne in December of 1945. Small illustrations are frank in their depiction of certain aspects of war - dotted ruins scattered throughout France, the glory of liberation, the chaos of battle, and incessantly dreary weather. The unit was unique in that it had not officially adopted a nickname during the war, and by the end, the experience was such it allegedly led the division commander to exclaim, "The Fourth Armored Division is name enough. They shall be known by their deeds alone." Drawn by T/4 Christopher Williams of the deservedly proud 4th Armored Division. Published, probably in Germany, in 1945." Sheet Width (in) 13.2 Sheet Height (in) 8.4 Condition Description Moderately toned sheet is somewhat brittle and shows creasing and light wear along old fold lines. A few tiny tears along the outer edges of the sheet, with no image loss. Good to very good overall. Seller Inventory # W000756
