A set of 15 of 34 volumes of this anual publication of the women's league of the Icelandic Synod of the Lutheran Church in North America. It was published in Winnipeg from 1933 to 1966. All volumes are in Very Good or better in condition in original card covers. Early volumes average about 50 pages; later volumes average over 100 pages. Many illustrations from photographs are included in the text, particularly in later volumes. This serial featured religious, literary and biographical material. It included many articles by Icelandic-Canadian women writers, the clergy, and both female and male community leaders, as well as poetry. It was largely in the Iclelandic language until 1963, after which date both Icelandic and English were used (source, Kristjansson, page 346). Contents : a comprehensive expression of ideas and ideals of women of the Icelandic ethnic group. Yet, it was not restricted to Icelandic writers - for example, prominent Canadian feminist Nellie McClung has an article in the 1936 volume. For a list of editors, see Hjartar, p. 9.
