Sermons, lectures delivered at church converntions, annual reports, financial reports, long lists of donors and sums donated, names of students at Wesley College (now University of Winnipeg), detailed minutes of proceedings at annual Synod conventions - all of which had a Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada bias and emphasis because that was the location of the principal church, the principal church officials and the bulk of hte Icelandic North American population. Chronicles the serious religious disputes within the Synod, which boiled over at the convention of June, 1909 (includes Jon Bjarnason's important "self defense" apologia (the handwritten notes of which exist at the Defoe Library, University of Manitoba). Complete set of this Icelandic North American Evangelical Lutheran Church periodical published in Winnipeg, and edited by Rev. Björn B. Jónsson, 1870-1938 (pen name Grim Grimson), the son of a pioneer Icelandic-Canadian couple, who was a Canadian Lutheran Minister of First Lutheran Church in Winnipeg (and for a while he was a pastor in Minneota, Minnesota). He was successively editor of the following four Icelandic Canadian journals - Kennarinn, 1897-1901; Vinland, 1902-03; Aramot, 1905-09; Sameiningin, 1914-32. He was twice elected as head of the Icelandic Lutheran Synod for North America and the Winnipeg Ministerial Association (re the latter office, see Kristjanson, p. 344). His short stories were acclaimed, and were anthologized in Vestum Um Haf by Finbogason and Kvaran (source, Einarsson, History of Icelandic Prose Writers, p 250). This set is in Very Good Plus condition, bound in two half clotha nd paper-over-boards hardcover volumes. Over 800 pages in total in the complete 5-year run of this journal. Note: The volume for 1907 is bound in twice. Contents: includes contributions from leading Icelandic Canadian/American clergymen including reverends Jon Bjarnason, Kristinn Olafsson, Bjorn B. Bjornsson (the editor), N. Stgr. Thorlacsson, Fridrik J. Bergmann, Runolfur Marteinsson and others. Listed in Hjartar, pp. 12 and 73.
