About The Great War Bookshop

The Great War Bookshop specialises in books about the History & Literature of the First World War, 1914-1918, excepting one catalogue of Miscellaneous Acquisitions and another small catalogue dealing with the Anthropology of the South Pacific. We have several thousand Great War titles to put online and new stock is being uploaded every week. We maintain more than 30 catalogues for customers in pursuit of specific Great War interests. To assist browsers, our descriptions often contain quotes, opinions or summaries of contents as well as bibliographic details. The two bibliographies most often cited in our descriptions are: 'War Books' by Cyril Falls, Peter Davies, 1930: and 'English Poetry Of The First World War' by Catherine W. Reilly, George Prior, 1978. Our shipping policy for customers in the United Kingdom is to include postage in the cost of the book (ie. free shipping)except for multi-volume orders and orders where the total weight to be posted is more than one kilogram. Full postage will be charged on these items. A heavy book costs more to post than a light one and this is reflected in our prices. (At the time of writing, Royal Mail charges $7.00 for shipping a book weighing more than one kilogram within the United Kingdom). Customers outside the United Kingdom incur postage on all orders at the rates set out in our shipping matrix. All overseas orders are sent airmail and our postage rates reflect this. In the case of multi-volume books, the overseas shipping rate quoted in the shipping matrix applies to each and every volume in the order. Thus, a trilogy incurs three separate shipping charges. Our policy on packaging is to use recycled material where possible. We offer customers a no quibble refund on any book found to be unsatisfactory, providing the reason is notified upon receipt, in the event of which the refund will be actioned when the returned book has been received by us. We are happy to send photos of our books to customers who provide a mobile telephone number but not to an e-mail address. The Great War Bookshop only sells books through ABE. We do not sell or ship books other than on the terms stated.
