Hand painted cover with a pirate cartouche, 9 x 6 inches, screw hinged. Written and pictured by Jo Mora on board Grace Line ships. The author is a e minent sculptor and artist and illustrator. He is listed in Dykes 50 "Great Western Illustrators", Mora #13. Grace Line had purchased the entire edition and brought it to the public. Mora published th e book and did the artwork and text. Approximately 121 unnumbered pages. Cartouche maps include Seattle, San Francisco, Mazatland, Los Angeles, San Pedro, Mexico, Guatemala and San Jose, San Salvador, Panama Canal, Cartagena, Puerto Columbia, Havana, Cuba, New York, etc. Also, full page artwork of pirates: Cavendish, Captain Kidd, Pierre LeGrand, Roche Brasiliano, Francois L'Olonnois, Sir Henry Mo rgan, Captain Edward Low, and Blackbeard. An amusing and entertaining Log written and pictured by Jo Mora for the Grace Line Cruise Ships and given to passengers to record the memories of their cruise, profusely illustrated with Jo Mora drawings and maps of major cities on the Cruise itinerary, there is also a brief biography of twelve infamous Pirates and a Jo Mora drawing of each Pirate, with the likes of Sir Francis Drake, Sir Henry Morgan, Captain Low, Captain Kidd, Bluebeard, Red Legs, and six other denizens of the sea. This copy is unique in that it was used by it's prior owner as to the intented use, to record her journals of her cruise, leaving San Pedro on March 9, 1935 on the Grace Line cruise ship Santa Elena, the written journals are by an obvious astute, and intelligent lady, with a sense of humor.
