Book Description: Doubleday New York 1978, 1978. First Edition. Signed by Author, Very Good+/Very Good+, Cloth. This is a beautiful copy of a scarce Stephen King book. Rarely found in great collector's condition Night Shift has been one of the most in-demand King first editions for a number of years. So many films have been made from the stories in this book that it is hard to know where to begin. Here are a few: Graveyard Shift, The Mangler, Sometimes They Come Back (and Come Back Again!), The Lawnmower Man, and Children of the Corn. This book is also offered with a one-of-a-kind piece of Stephen King ephemera. It is a Postcard, written humorousley, and signed by the Master himself. Let's start with the book. The book itself is in Fine condition with no writing internally. The textblock is completely clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is bright with perhaps a tiny bit of fading. The boards are very clean and very bright red. The First Edition point-of-issue is "S52" in the gutter of page 336 and this is present. The endpapers have been professionally replaced due to the originals being a mess and this is the only alteration that has been made to the book. The book is very, very nice. The dustjacket, which is not price-clipped and shows the proper price of $8.95 is near-fine. There is a chip to the lower rear panel on the right hand side. There is very slight shelf-wear to the dustjacket at the top and bottom of the spine panel. The dustjacket is clean and bright. A very beautiful copy of a very important book. The postcard, which is included in this offering, is complete and is housed in a hard plastic protector. I have cropped the scan of the front of the card so as not to show the addressee's personal information. The card is dated 09/20/82 and it is a funny and relevant piece of ephemera. If you cannot read what the card says on your screen, please get in touch with me and I will send the text to you. It's a great message and it shows that the Master of Horror really can be a funny guy! Taken all together this is a remarkable offering that will surely appreciate in value and give its owner many years of bragging rights! We are pleased to send pictures on request.
